looking for Info about the knock off Tillotson HL carbs
I am looking for info about the Tillotson knock off carbs.
Is anyone using them?
Are parts interchangable with Tillotsoan carbs?
Do they work as well as Tillotsons?
Where can I buy them?
Any other info would be appreciated.
Email or PM me if you would.
Thanks
Rick
I have used a few different types. They are built on the metric platform so most of the parts are not interchangeable. but the diaphragms are the same as well as the fuel inlet.
They do work pretty well, not quite like the real thing but decent. I found that I had to bore the HS mixture hole to about 0.062" to get them to work , otherwise they run pretty lean. The LS circuit is fine the way it is.I also plug the choke shaft holes.
They are actually a replacement for a Stihl 08 08S BT360 chainsaw.
Ebay has them, here is a link:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-For-Stihl-08-08S-BT360-TILLOTSON-HL-166C-ZAMALA-58-Chainsaw-Carb-US/173609249454?hash=item286beaeaae:g:uUIAAOSw61Fb0y-Q:rk:14:pf:0
Thanks Scott...…
I heard about them and was wondering if they would be good on a Mc-8...
I am assuming they are a 1.00" bore carb???
Thanks again..
Rick
The ZAMA wasn't really a Tillotson knock off, and not ever heard anything bad about them.
But there are full knock-offs coming out of china that I wouldn't use for anything but sling-shot ammo.
