Hello Berne,

As Steve Carroll has correctly replied, that is indeed a Blackhawk Poison Arrow. I believe Steve owns one or two of them.

There are a few of us Blackhawk owners lurking on the site, myself being one (I only own 8 Blackhawks, the Blackhawk guru in Florida). Berne, I would say your kart was made about 1972 to 1974, based on the hoop shape holding the upper steering shaft, the double front bumper and the single tube going to the spindles.

Your kart is missing the correct upper seat support tubes. The silver aluminum tube which connects the top rail to top rail at the rear of the kart and appears to be a roll hoop over the driver's head is not original to the kart. The correct seat supports would have bolted on with heim joints with those bolts sticking out of the ends of the top rails. The steering wheel is not original; it came with a wood gripped butterfly wheel. Some point in Blackhawk production in the 1970s, they switched to using butterfly wheels with the black silicone rubber grips. Those would be period correct too. You are missing the hip cushions for the seat and your front wheels are not Margay star wheels like the back wheels. Your front number panel is missing. I can supply you with a reproduction one for $150 plus shipping. Everything else appears to be original.

You say you have had this kart for about 30 years. Are you thinking about restoring it or selling it?

If you are going to restore it, I can be a help in information for restoration. If you want to sell it, I am an interested buyer, that is if Steve Carroll has not bought it first. If selling, what is your price?

Where are you located? State and largest city?

Kind Regards,

Joe Drabicki
