Hi,
New to the board and glad to be here. I'm not familiar with the brand but just picked up what I believe is a Putt-Nik Demon kart ("cart" in the Putt-Nik world I understand).

This would appear to be a '61 but, were these made later when Putt-Nik was under different ownership?

It also came with 4" and 6" Hands wheels.

Thanks for the help!
Joe

Information on these must be really scarce. I figured someone would have some kind of input.

It is a Putt-Nik Demon.
I have a 61 Demon. Yours has some extra tubing in the back. It’s probably a later model.

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. Is this the one I saw pictures of with 1 engine online....the only picture I could find of a Demon! Are those Westbends?

Thanks!
Those are WB580 5 ports.
I’ve been running this with the twins since restoring it.

I love the kart!
Just make sure you update the steering column to a 5/8” splined column. I had the unfortunate experience of having mine snap. It wasn’t fun!

Thanks! I will bare that in mind....would not want to experience that.

There's an almost identical one to yours on Pinterest....single engine and different decal.

My Bendix brake is on the opposite side....and mine looks to have been blue orignally.

It is my understanding that after the Putt-Nik stopped mass production they continued to produce a very small number of one-offs by special request….. possibly into the early 70’s.

My kart is a 61. The Demon was the last production model. I believe 61 was the last production year.
All that I have see were red. After 61 the color easily could have been what ever the customer requested.

That's interesting and it possibly answers some questions.

Although mine may be newer it could be a one-off if the production numbers were low and they were built to customer spec.

Thus the blue and the extra frame tubes in the rear.

How do the welds look on yours? The welds on mine don't look that great but I attribute that to the era.

The welds are nothing to brag about but to be honest I have seen worse.

Before powder coating mine I did grind the welds in a couple of spots.

Thanks for your replies alpostiglione! It's going to sit for a little while but I may be in touch once I get going on it.

Can someone tell me if a Clinton A400 would be appropriate for my Putt-Nik Demon? Or would a Tecumseh AH-47 be correct? Thank you for the information!

I would think any of the old round head 2 strokes would be appropriate. West bend 580 or 700. Clintons up to an E65. maybe even a Power Products or a homelite.

Thanks John! I have a Clinton A400 and a PP AH-47. The Clinton will most likely go on it.
