Hey Kart Restorers!

Does anybody have an old beat up Brevettato Gas Cap that you just hate how it looks (rusty, dented, peeling chrome) and you don't mind parting it out? I just need ONE PART, but I will buy the whole thing if you don't want it.

I need the little spring loaded pivoting keeper piece that is in charge of keeping the gas cap down and keeping the gas in the tank.

Does anybody have one they will sell? Click the link to see this gas cap. The pivoting keeper piece is on the far right.

Please Private Message me and let's talk.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Joe

is that the same gas cap as the "Azuza flip top" or the one that was on the Margay Panther tanks?

Hey Kurt,

The Margay Panther aluminum tank had the same gas cap. I don't know how the Azusa cap looks.

Kind Regards,

Joe

Hey Mike!

Thank you! I got the gas cap. It is awesome! You are my bestest bud. Thanks a million.

I removed the keeper from the cap and I have sanded off all the rust. I sanded the rust off the spring and shined up the brass pin that is the pivot for the keeper.

This weekend I will put some Krylon Chrome silver paint on the keeper to see how it looks. If it looks good, I will move on to putting it on my original gas cap. If it doesn't look good, I might find a real chrome guy to chrome it. I wanted to avoid real chrome because of the cost.

Mike, thanks again. You have helped me with a critical missing part. I truly appreciate it. Let me know when I can return the favor.

Kind Regards,
Joe

Hey Mike,

I have not tried rust remover. I didn't even think about that. My first thought was to use sandpaper.

What brand rust remover do you use?

Kind Regards,
Joe
