Picked up a 65 GP and am into restoring it but have a few questions about the floor pan. I know it is an aluminum floor pan but was wondering what the spacing is on the rivets that hold it in. and were they 1/8 " or 3/16"? It seems that the pan had been re-riveted in a few spots and it seems as though the spacing was real close to 1 1/2" but on the other side they measured 3 " in between. The kart was complete but with a Mac 9 that that must have blown the piston. Wheels are in good shape frame looks to be undamaged and no re-welds that I can see. I plan to do a complete resto but need to know if anybody knows the floor pan rivet spacing. And I assume using steel rivets is correct? I drilled them out and some were aluminum and some were steel but assumed that they used what they had to replace them. As soon as I can Ill post some pics but the kart is completely apart and my time to work on it is quite limited at least till cold weather comes.
Thank you and any info would be helpful
Dave
Thanks Dan
The only thing I noticed was a lot of the holes were 3/16 so they probably replaced them with the bigger rivet . With that I suppose I should use the bigger rivet and not try to weld up the holes and redrill. I’ll have to see when I get back to it. Thanks again Dan ,I have restored a couple of simplex end they are a different animal. But the GP just seems like a fun one to restore
