Guy VanDerVeen's Caretta
... a work in progress

vanderveen2.jpg (67859 bytes)

Guy VanDerVeen of Redlands CA tells about this caretta:

Here are a couple of pictures of my Caretta. It came with 3 Montesa 100cc   engines. It was purchased from a man in his 50's named Joe Haile who used to   race a Caretta (not this particular one) when he was a teenager. This frame has never been run. His father had plans to cobble it together with dual  Montesa engines, but never followed through. (Probably a good thing! Can you  imagine trying to keep traction in the rear)? I acquired the Caretta frame, 3  complete Montesa engines, 6 new pistons, 3 Montesa expansion chambers and many extra parts. Joe told me that he only raced a few times on a Montesa powered Caretta but that it was a wickedly fast combo. I was looking for a set of  5"go-powers to complete the restoration.

Also, if anybody has technical info (printed or otherwise) on these Montesas, (how will i set up those
carbs?)I'd  love to hear from you.
