Has anyone ever had any luck getting the fuel stains off the tanks? I hate to redo a kart and put a stained tank back on it.

50/50 solution Clorox and water, soaked overnight,..completely submerged.  Light bristle brush scrub, then rinse.  If it's had heavy sun exposure, some of the UV damage may not be reversible.  Once clean, check for cracks,...UV is a killer on vintage '60s and '70s plastics, which tend to become brittle with heavy sun exposure.  If you're not using the tank immediately after this cleaning process, soak liberally with WD-40, inside and out, until ready for use.

UV rays can do a number on polypropylene but fuel can also discolor them.Years ago, I used Mobil gas in my King Kart with a plastic tank (probably the same tank as yours) and after a while the tank had a bluish hue (Mobil gas was dyed blue back then). I'd try soaking the whole tank in hydrogen peroxide for a couple of hours, not more than that though since It can cause brittleness to develop.
