I have a 2`nd design Bug Stinger for sale. The kart was never broken or rewelded. Complete restoration. The motor is a 91B and is fresh from FMS and never fired. Has Bill McCornack alcohol carb. Nylites with Goodyear Blue Streak`s.  The Chilton tank pictured is the original for the kart and has fuel level sight tube. This was in my personal "Stash" . Selling to finance other interest`s. As usual no help to take the kart out of the stand for better pics?  Really a nice kart though. PM if theres any interest. Thanks, Phil.

Hi Phil,

I Saw a Killer 73 bug stinger with a 91 Saturday at an event at Riversides Adams Track.

What are the differences in your? What does a second design refer to?

The 73 I saw had a lower profile pipe than curved around the back of the kart as opposed to yours that looks like it might be close to your right shoulder?

Also the one I saw saturday sat about 3/4 inch off the ground and lower than any rear engine vintage out there. Is yours real low and ground huggging?

Would like more photos as if this has the same profile as the 73 i might be interested if I can get past the pipe location.

Whats your asking price on it and is that exhaust set up origional or changed from origional.

Nice work and I appreciate the alky set up as well.

Regards, Jeff

Hi Jeff. The big difference is the 1`st design was a solid seatback and the 2`nd is a "Floating Seat". Unlike the 73. on this kart the steering is still in front of the axle. The exhaust is not the original but I`d be more than glad to change out the NOS overhead pipe for the rear mounted one. Thanks, Phil.

Hi Gary. On the first design the seat hoop was 1" diameter and was welded solid to a crossbar that was welded across the frame rails. The 2`nd design was mounted to a cross bar that is mounted with a rubber bushing on each side of the rails and was 3/4" diameter for the hoop and side bars.  As far as the pipe goes I probably have any of the popular ones used in this time period. (don`t we all?);) Phil.

Jeff, +1 on what Jim said about Phil.

Good explanation there Phil.

Gary, here is a pic with Phil's Stinger on the left and Vince's Stinger on the right to get a visual of what Phil is describing.  I'm not sure of the year the Stinger went to a 'floating' seat design, but I'd guess around 70-71.

Thank you for all the input and information. I like it very much!

Now I'm going to check the visuals of a stinger with outfront steering vs inboard stearing. And one more thing......................

I`m asking 2750.00 for the kart as it sits not including the Chilton tank. That`s 50 cents on the dollar not counting labor. Thanks, Phil.

Maybe I'm not so good at math these days but it sounds like you are saying you have spent $5,500 to assemble that kart. Is that a correct interpretation?

My 1973 dual Stinger had the very narrow hoop, front steering and floating seat. I'm pretty certain it had the 3/4" seat back hoop. It had the big 7+ quart Chilton-style tank that served as the seatback pan. It came with dual 175 Airheart calipers, small-hub discs and Fey sprocket hubs. It had the real short front bumper. TJ
