I'm making a new thread here since my race hasn't been posted on the VKA site for over three months.
They've know about at least that long it but for some reason it ain't there.
i suspect there's something besides a senior moment going on with that posting oversight.
Who knows it may appear tomorrow and i'll look silly complaining!!!!
Anyway as soon as i figure it out i'll have a flyer pdf to send to anyone that wants to help promote the event at local east Coast tracks over the summer.
VINTAGE KART RACING AT
OVRP Cuddebackville N.Y. OCT 6 + 7 / 2012 Save the Date
THIS IS A
ALL VINTAGE KART EVENT
Practice available oct 4,5
Event dates are currently
=> OCT. 6,7 <=
I am planning this race/event to be a fun gathering of guys who love Vintage Karts.
We're gonna race them like they were built to be run.
Everyone should have fun and I suspect will.
After we're done running the karts we'll eat burgers and lie about how great we all were "back in the day"
On the Vintge Kart judging classes i think VKA has a well thought out and thorough outline so we'll be using it pretty much verbatim.
IN most VKA events the rule suggestions
At my event the VKA rules on tires and equipment are
THE RULES
Follow them or you will not be allowed to run your kart.
NO EXCEPTIONS
On the tire requirements
VKA rules are being used
i'll post them with the flyer
on the kart set ups i'm gonna ask nicely that everyone do their best to build era correct karts.
so no mc101's on 1959 karts please.
AGAIN VKA RULES will be our basic outline
no disk clutches except as per what VKA allows it on the newest karts
My promoter option changes are NO YAMAHA'S
NO FOUR STROKES
NO FUN KARTS
i may make a yamaha straight shaft exception.
i might even allow a yamaha vintage grid if enough owners commit to the race and pay ahead .
i do have a resposibility to the track making money too so if there's enough preregistration within vka guidelines if you can run.
if you have a kart contact me ahead of time and i'll do a case by case thing.
The races we ran last year were 10 laps each so we will be trying to keep the number of different grids low to finish the day.We may also mix in practice between if there aren't enough grids so drivers can "rest up"
Some of the VKA classes will be run depending on if we have over 4 karts for a particular class.
On some of the races I'm going with a different format than VKA as far as race classes go.
i'd rather group a bunch of like times together if there aren't enough karts.
THE CLASSES
HOPEFULLY WE"LL HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO DO THIS
There will be a historic class both fast time and slow guys or they'll all run together depending on kart count
probably 1957 through 1962 more or less.
if we get enough karts i'll be using a tighter selection to group older like karts together.
we'll decide on fence sitter older karts on site.
no us820,mc91 or mc101 as they can run in the faster rear engined group are gonna be allowed.
we'll run a mc49/5 class If there's enough mcculloch 1.375 or 1.5 stroked motors
probably like barnsville with the both fast and slow paced running together.
i may even put the mc 6/10's in that class so the grid is a decent size.
A rear class both fast and slow paced
possibly a foriegn class too if we get enough karts or they can run together if the drivers are agreable .the point is to have fun.
A sidewinder class both fast and slow paced.
possibly a foriegn class too if we get enough karts or they can run together if the drivers are agreable .the point is to have fun.
there will also be duals, senior class, junior class fast/slow if enough karts are there ect ect
All this presupposes we have enough karts to run the two fast/slow classes.
If not it'll be a free-for-all like year with single classes for rears, historics and sidewinders.
The fun part is what I'd want everyone to relive not endless rules and debates.
We'll be having a semi formal judging of the karts like at Avon
though i will be adding a racable rat catagory.
basically i'll give the guys who have decent karts just not pretty a shot at a prize.
more on the judging later.
