You should try the new tires where the rim is 10" wide and the tire 8". Spray tire and rim with WD40 or white lithium grease spray. Use really good ratchet straps or really good pull tie downs (sometimes several) around the tire collasping the center of the tread (that forces the sidewall outward faster)and get ready to inflate. I remove the tire core and use a piece of fuel line on a blower nozzel to attach to the tire stem. This puts air in at a much faster rate than if you have the core in. The xtra speed of inflation help on the beading process. The fuel line lets you get away from the tire and rim for safety. I use wd 40 to bead motorcycle tires also. everyone now days uses wd40 to replace the oils dried out of the tires by age and heat from running-that is if they aren't using tire treatments. I am not referring to Vintage karting on the last part but wd 40 would be good for old slicks.

Oh another good reason to bead with wd40 or lithium grease is you get no rim corrosion.
