Thanks both of ya.
Steve, I've got a deal with someone for my fox wheels in trade for some brake equip... but I'll tell you what, I have a crazy knack for finding weird stuff and will keep you guys in mind when I do run across this stuff.
Mike, what exactly are you looking for?
150 kick starter? Really? LOL I think it's funny looking... but it works.
More soon.Last edited on Sun Jul 17th, 2011 10:49 pm by Kelly Wood

Update:
Yesterday was stripping the frame of the old paint, then a simple covering of flat black for now. For anyone wondering: My plan is to make myself a kart... from parts & whatever I find... make it all work... then strip it back down & make it pretty. For now, it's flat black so it don't rust too much and gives me a solid color to stare at.
I really wanted to be on Junkyard wars.
Playing with the engine was fun, it runs and all is well but that kick starter doesn't work right at all for this project... so we'll just do something else... like a hand crank like on an old car LOL (just kidding, probably an electric external starter)
Looks like some lucky soul is going to find that kick starter they've always wanted.
And it looks like this now. This is fun.
Thanks for looking,

A little goofing off... approaching the look I'm going for.
yea yea, I know. Not a racer. You gotta admit though the Manco wheels suit it when done this way.
I dunno, I don't care. It's fun.Attachment: DSC08301A.jpg (Downloaded 292 times) Last edited on Wed Jul 20th, 2011 12:48 am by Kelly Wood

Hey Kelly!
I love it! I like how the unpainted rim edge "pops" between the tire and black painted wheel center. It is cool looking. I agree with you on it does not matter that it is not a racer. It looks like one. Bug did their fun kart right with the dropped front axle, so it does look like a racer. You get a big thumbs up from me.
What kind of seat are you going to put on the kart? I sell thick plastic kart seats in red, blue, yellow and green in size XL or black in any size fibreglass, $100 per seat plus shipping.
If a $100 seat is too much, here is an idea. I saw an old Bug enduro kart turned into a sit up sprint kart. The seat on it looked like one of those plastic types of chairs that you might see in an elementary school classroom, with the chrome legs removed.
Kind Regards, Joe

Good ideas there. Most likely it'll end up with a seat with a shorter back but enough to support the driver. It will have side plates similar to that found on the evans spl or similar karts. I don't wanna slide out of this.
The fiberglass & school chairs are a great suggestion but might not be the way I go here. We'll see how it goes.

That's pretty funny.
Believe it or not, I"m 6 foot. I fit in this thing and it looks just as goofy as the old days when everyone else bent their knees.
I think the idea will go similar to what you're talking about. the wing thing with holes in them, mak kart / evans looking... ditch digger. I like 4 strokes.
I have no shop... just a carport and an idea.
