Dont know why my pics keep disappearing, but will try again.
These flywheels dont have part numbers cast in that denote direction. But a quick visual can confirm which rotation it is.
If you notice how both flywheels are indexed the same. The small cast boss with a 3/8 recess that is pointing straight up.
For left hand engines the key slot is pointed to the left
Right hand engines have key slot pointed to the right.
The magnet is straight across to the left. It is rounded. The counter weight is squared and directly across to the right.
Left hand engine has key slot pointed towards the magnet.
Right hand engine has key slot pointed away from magnet.
If your engine was originally sold for karts, the crankshaft with be a straight 5/8 diameter and have a full 3/16" key slot.
If crankshaft is straight 9/16" with 7/16-20 rh threads, it was originally from a direct drive chainsaw and right hand drive. It will also have a 1/8" wide woodruff key slot.
If crankshaft has a large spline and threaded on the end, then was originally from a gear reduction chainsaw and is left hand drive.Attachment: DSCF8989.JPG (Downloaded 80 times) Last edited on Mon Sep 12th, 2022 05:40 am by Terry Bentley
