Jeremy-
I doubt that you are going to find that setup cheap. There are enough guys who are actually restoring the Hornets that are looking for those brake parts that will pay decent money when they are found, and I think guys that have those parts to sell would rather see them end up on a kart that will be restored, used at vintage meets where other kart enthusiasts can also see and enjoy the restored kart, and has a chance to live for another few decades.
It's not putting your kart down, it's just that those brake parts are rare, original parts and since you've heavily modified the kart already, it's probably going to be easier and cheaper for you to just adapt something that is readily available to enable you to bomb around the back 40 on.

| Does anybody else have any parts for this brake setup? I'm not looking to spend alot on a complete system, just need the wheel cylinders and maybe some extra shoes.

| Jeremy; I have a very good front pair of original Hornet brakes. No brocken hub fins and like new linings. It's complete with spindels and master. You can call me for more details. Howard 773-965-9755

the original spindles have value away from your kart.
if you have the skill swap out the spindles for new and sell what you have.
finding those parts is gonna be a huge project.
and nothing else will fit in their place.
since you've ruined a rare kart anyway you might as well finish the job and at least get the salvagable parts available to a restorer.

I allready have an enginetics set like that with a steering shaft mounted master cylinder. The brake works like a automobile clutch where the whole pad makes contact with the whole disc at the same time. It will fit with alot of modification of the stock spindles, I just don't want to do that.
Thanks,
Jeremy

on something not vintage anyway just get a set of enginetic front disks.
parts are easier to come by and they work better than a vintage set up.
they'll bolt onto almost any modern front hub.
heres what you're looking for that just went up on ebay.
item # 220565877943
they are easy to install.
if you'd like a set i may have a pair hanging around i'd sell for 120.00.
won't have a master cylinder but those are easy to find or just buy new.
you'll also need a adjuster kit but those are also commonly available.
or if you have the original rims drums brake parts rusted or what ever i might consider a trade plus cash and get you set up with everthing you need for the front brakes and rims.
p.m. me if you're interested

I know that some people in here are not going like what I did to a vintage kart, so here it goes. I have a 1969? Hornet Allegro Enduro kart that I turned into a sit-up style of kart to make room for an Arctic Cat 440cc Snowmobile engine behind the seat. When I got the kart, it had been sitting outside for a very long time, also it had been welded on and modified. The front brake wheel cylinders are rusted solid, and I need a set to make them work. I do have dual rear disc brakes on it, but it needs more brakes. If anyone has some, or knows of something else that will work please let me know. Would be even better if I could bolt in a set of disc brakes without any cutting or welding.
Thanks,
Jeremy
