I came across some WB 610/820 cranks while cleaning. 2 of them have weights welded on, the others don't. I assume the ones with the weights are for the 820 and those without weights are for the 610, correct?

Dan,
The 610 and 820 crankshafts were made the same without welded on counterweights.

I think the counterweights were added for the Earl Larsen 820 class. The engines had specific requirements and were not modified. Maybe someone has the specs somewhere. They may have been added by the factory for a special run of engines.

I found one of the engines on an enduro kart and it had the counterweights. It was stamped by an engine builder in the mid-west.

I remember reading that the class didn't allow the main crank bearings to have the plastic ball retainers.

Interesting subject

Okay. The welds look too good and consistent (kind of like those on the factory 580 weighted cranks) not to be factory, but could be aftermarket. I had a Russell stroked/ba1anced Power Products crank years ago that had similar weld quality...maybe they did these. Have you used one of these in a 610? Thanks!

I used the only one I've had is in an 820 but it should work OK in a 610.

I have a Russel stroked crank with the weights added and I also built one for a friend of mine. The stock stroke is 1.62 inches and the stroked crank is 1.92 inches. Fantastic torque and power.
