Bought a Kart for the motor.The chassis looked home made, but thought I should ask around before parting it. It has a cool disk brake and a Taylorcraft steering wheel. I like aricraft things.

Hello Mr. Hirth,

The school cafeteria called and they want their heavy duty large commercial grade spaghetti colander back!

Nice kart! It does look homemade. I like things made from aluminum, especially karts. Any chance you could please post more pics from other angles? We would all like to see the brake you mentioned and the wheels from the side.

I wonder why the seat area on the left is higher than the right.

This thing came from the area of Homestake g0ld Mine. The welds look like they are torch welded.

yeah, that's what might be found on a left turn oval, but a right turn? Can't see it in this photo, but the steering wheel has a Taylorcraft horn button.

I like the limited slip differential! It's a pretty clever idea really.

I thought it was a LSD too, but if it is, then the Kart has no brakes. While we all know brakes are needless weight, I would hate to put a kid in something with no brakes.
I haven't messed with it yet, we have something of a winter storm approaching and I'm trying to get things ready.

Brake or clutch, it is so ingenious, it made me wonder about the kart's origins. If the kart is home made, that's one heck of a piece of engineering. It made me wonder if the frame is home made using a parts kit form some supplier for the running gear.

On closer look, I think you're right, I think it is a brake. either way, it's an interesting way to do it!
