UV rays can do a number on polypropylene but fuel can also discolor them.Years ago, I used Mobil gas in my King Kart with a plastic tank (probably the same tank as yours) and after a while the tank had a bluish hue (Mobil gas was dyed blue back then). I'd try soaking the whole tank in hydrogen peroxide for a couple of hours, not more than that though since It can cause brittleness to develop.
